2023.06.04 18:12 Designer-Chair77 Family mad because I don’t always want to play “pass the baby”

I have been having a hard time with family since I was pregnant with my son. Everyone felt they had entitlement over my pregnancy, and everyone feels entitlement over my baby. While I appreciate family members being involved, loving my son, etc, I am allowed to say no to “help” and I’m allowed to want time with my son. I am getting to the point where I don’t want to go to family functions, dinners, or visit in-laws because I am expected to just hand my son over and not have him at all and I am having family get angry/upset with me because I say no or say he’s ok I’m gonna feed him and hold him. I went to dinner with my husband, parents, and grandparents and was offered a few times by my grandma to hold the baby. (Keep in mind she is around us a lot and sees him a LOT) I said no politely the first time, and he was sick, so I also wanted to just care for him myself. It got to the point where I was being told “here let me just take him” “want to move his seat by mine” “let me give him the bottle” she was visibly upset I wanted to care for my child at dinner. I chatted to her the whole time at dinner and thought things went well, but When we got in the car my mom was pissed at me and told me my grandma was upset and she’s upset I didn’t let grandma hold the baby and gave me the silent treatment. I always have tried to involve my family with my son and give everyone turns to interact with him and form relationships, but it’s hurtful that in the few times I want to hold him myself and not share everyone is mad at me.

2023.06.04 18:11 zuggles Ring to UVC-G4 Doorbell Pro

Hello,
I have been very interested in ditching Ring, as much as possible, and moving to Unifi. I would absolutely love to pick up a UVC-G4 Doorbell Pro (if there were ever stock), but one of my major issues is the form factor of the UVC-G4 Doorbell Pro.
I live in Chicago, and my doorbell is actually installed in a metal gate that has a standard doorbell box/conduit welded in.
Has anyone had success finding any sort of ring -> UI retrofit kits? Making the changeout would literally require a metal worker to change the form factor / build custom plating.
I would love it if in the future UI would consider adopting a more uniform doorbell form factor.

2023.06.04 18:06 dslNoob Hypothetical Solutions for saving 3rd party apps

(Copy of my post from piracy, since I wasn't aware of this subreddit's existence) Warning: This post is fairly technical, and so some parts may not make a lot of sense to the layman, which is okay. I'll add something for you at the end of the post as a TLDR.
As I see it, there are two hypothetical solutions (and one nuclear one, technically) for the problem stated in the title:
A. Modifying the ORIGINAL reddit app client to make it support features that are part of the 3rd party apps that you like. cough check out the revanced project, if you're a developer like me / or a consumer of third party apps, you could go ahead and contribute the things that you like/and the devs might be able to try adding those functionality to the list of possible "patches". This however is too much work and I am not sure if it's worth it/feasible on a longer run. Hypothetically, again, if reddit doesn't force updates down the users throat, one could theoretically do all the work for the latest version of the app/version of the app that everyone likes, and then ask the users to not update the app ever.
B. Hypothetically again, scraping the official API and using them within the apps. This is highly illegal (edit: if not illegal, it's definitely against the EULA) and I would definitely recommend the developers to not contact me to get help with this since reddit might go after you legally if you try this wink. Hypothetically, you could use either web API or the app API if it were legal. This does mean that the third party apps can no longer be published on the official channels like Google play store or app store. Or distributing the apps without any API with users being allowed to enter their own domain/endpoints in form of a endpoint.json file perhaps. The app itself could be distributed legally in that case, while users could be asked to find their endpoint.json themselves (which they can "magically" find by a simple Google search/asking friends for it).
C. Nuclear option, boycott reddit and move to some other comparable forum social media.
I can likely help with B, if you know who I should contact or where I should copy this post, please feel free to let me know. We can talk about this outside the reddit platform if needed.
TLDR: Would you rather prefer being able to modify your current reddit app to make it support the things that the third party apps currently do, at least block ads? Or would you prefer having to get the app/update it without the involvement of the app store or play store?

2023.06.04 18:04 HypeKo Thesis: TFP estimation, controlling for migrant share

Hi im doing a thesis on the productivity impact of migrants for European countries, using panel data from EUKLEMS. I'm struggling with the TFP estimation that I would need for Stata. My supervisor suggested I take any simple TFP estimation based on growth accounting (Solow) and add the share of migrants as a control variable.
I now have the following based on my own very simple calculations, as most of the TFP papers look at very specific and different stuff that I will not need. But I very much would like your help and suggestions to see whether this is somehwat in the right direction.
Starting with Cobb-Douglas prod. function: Y = A * (K^a) * (L^(1-a). rewriting to express the solow residual (A), as a function of the other factors, leads to A = Y / (K^a) * (L^(1-a)).
Or should I express this in natural logarithmic terms(?), such that:
ln(Y) = ln(A) + (a * ln(K)) + ((1-a) * ln(L)) + control variables + error term
But im curious whether this useful/appropriate or whether I should take a different TFP estimation.

2023.06.04 18:02 Concrete_halls Psychedelics are not hallucinogens, but perception modulators

About a month ago, I wrote a post explaining how I view psychedelics and their effects. It was a lengthy post, though, so I can understand if most people find it to be too much to read. In any case, I believe the concept is valuable and will attempt to simplify the main points of this model into a 3-minute read rather than a 15-minute one.
Although psychedelics are, as you might know, officially hallucinogens, in my opinion, there is a big difference between what I would consider a true hallucination and a psychedelic effect in the way their subjective effects are formed. I consider hallucinogenic effects to be an outward projection into the existing 3D subjective experience, like deliriants and certain psychiatric states do.
Due to the new understanding of neural science in the last 20 years, we now know that the brain doesn't replicate information from objective reality, but reconstructs it by its own rules, which evolved to be useful for us into our subjective experience. Our sensory organs take data A, process it, and make it into our subjective reality B to make sense of it and organize it in a useful way to help us function as modeled by evolutionary pressure.
So, there is objective reality A and subjective reality B, What happens is that psychedelics change the way that information is proccessed and we get to subjective reality C instead. So we go from A>B to A>C, which can explain a variety of unexplained psychedelic phenomena, such as shared psychedelic experiences, better than "telepathy" or similar explanations would. If we think of subjective reality as the desktop of a PC, instead of adding new icons, which would be a hallucination, psychedelics instead change the software itself, making us go to a different operating system.
The difference is in information flow, instead of outward projection to subjective reality, it's a change in information processing in the first place. Although there is not enough research to really understand what happens to the brain under the influence of psychedelics yet, we know more about how the brain works in a sober state. By contrasting the subjective experiences of these two states, we can identify a few potential mechanisms by which changes might occur.
Some mechanisms would include a reduction in the filtration of information, reducing the usual threshold of information accessibility to our awareness from the brain's usual background processes, less strict rules of information processing based on past experiences, changing the grouping of objects both conceptually and sensoryly, synesthesia-type of information output, the same nerve signals repeating beyond their usual limit, etc. Important to note is that, due to our still limited knowledge of the psychedelic experience, the mechanism could be different, perhaps as simple as just our information processing "bugging out", but the result would be the same: a different formation of subjective reality from the same sensory data.
Now, some would argue that evolution would drive us to see more and more accurate reality, as that would give us an advantage. However, as evolution is a mathematically precise theory, that can, and has been tested. When taking into account two factors, accurate replication of reality or focus on fitness, species that focus on fitness traits always come out on top, while those that value accurate representation of reality go extinct almost every single time. Here is a TED talk by Donald Hoffman for those who want a deeper understanding of this concept. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYp5XuGYqqY
In this context, it would mean that our subjective reality is already an abstraction, we just go from one abstraction to another made from the same data processed in different ways. There is no color red in objective reality as we see it, it exists just within our subjective reality, and in objective reality there is just information in the form of wavelenghts. Alteration in perception does not necessarily equate to hallucination.
TL;DR Psychedelic effects might not be hallucinations as an outward projection from the mind into the 3D subjective environment, but a change in how information is proccessed and formed in the first place, as our sober subjective reality is not a replication of objective reality, but an abstraction made to give us an advantage through the useful organization of data. In a sense, psychedelic effects are at least as real as our subjective experience of color.
Here is a link to the more detailed post I shared last month if anyone is interested in a more detailed explanation: https://www.reddit.com/Psychonaut/comments/13fnmpc/psychedelic_effects_are_not_hallucinations_but/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

2023.06.04 17:59 Ali_Strnad The Mysteries of Osiris at Abydos

This post is about the Mysteries of Osiris at Abydos, an annual event on the ancient Egyptian religious calendar which commemorated the death and burial of Osiris and occurred in the fourth month of the season of the inundation. I will be mainly focussing on the version of the festival that was celebrated at Abydos in the Middle Kingdom but at the end I will mention how it later became combined with the Sokar festival celebrated at Memphis to result in its most developed form.
The Ikhernofret Stela is a Middle Kingdom stela which dates to the reign of King Senusret III and which records the actions of a high official named Ikhernofret who carried out the instructions of the king to renew the temple of Osiris at Abydos and to act as the chief officiant in the Mysteries of Osiris which were enacted at that temple. The stela begins with a copy of the king's decree giving Ikhernofret his orders and praising his good qualities that made him suitable for the job. He tells Ikhernofret to travel south to Abydos which is in the Thinite nome as he would presumably have started from the capital which was at Itjtawy in the north of Egypt at this time.
Ikhernofret says on that stela that he acted as Osiris's "loving son" which implies that he played the role of Horus in the mythic drama who, as the loving son of Osiris, carried out the funerary rituals for his father according to Egyptian myth. Therefore the actions which are attributed to Ikhernofret in the account of the Mysteries of Osiris on this stela correspond to the actions of Horus in the myth of the death and burial of Osiris which the festival was intended to commemorate.
The section about how Ikhernofret renewed the temple is very much as one might expect and involves each of the main items of temple furniture receiving some kind of improvement. Ikhernofret says that he repaired the sacred barque on the god and gave it a palanquin as well as sculpting new statues for the subsidiary deities in the temple and housing them in new shrines. He also embellishes the main cult statue of the great god himself with various precious metals and stones and instructs the priests on the correct way of doing the rituals.
The account of the Mysteries of Osiris on the Ikhernofret Stela begins with a procession of the statue of the god Wepwawet. Ikhernofret describes this ceremony as follows: "I conducted the procession of Wepwawet, when he proceeded to champion his father. I repelled those who rebel against the Neshmet-barque and I overthrew the enemies of Osiris." Wepwawet was one of the subsidiary deities in the temple of Osiris at Abydos whose statues were enshrined in that temple. In fact there were two separate forms of Wepwawet enshrined at Abydos, namely the Wepwawet of Upper of Egypt and the Wepwawet of Lower Egypt. This fact is mentioned on a stela of king Thutmose I who made further improvements to the temple in the New Kingdom.
It can be inferred that the procession of Wepwawet involved some kind of mock battle in which the enemies of Osiris were ceremonially defeated. The one who defeats these enemies is first identified as Wepwawet who is described as "championing his father" which is the same Egyptian phrase nḏ ı͗t=f so frequently applied to Horus in his role as Osiris's loving son who took care of him after his death and defended him against his enemies. But then the same role is assumed directly by Ikhernofret when he says "I overthrew the enemies of Osiris". In some mysterious way the chief officiant assumes the identity of the processional god in order to discharge his functions.
It is not explicitly stated in the text but from what follows it is to be inferred that Osiris was considered to be dead even before this first ritual event. The defence of Osiris against his enemies here relates to the efforts of Osiris's protectors to repel the attempts of Seth to mutilate his corpse in the interest of preserving his bodily integrity. The passivity of Osiris in this mock battle relying as he does on the work of his son Wepwawet to defend himself further alludes to his being dead at this stage.
The second episode in Ikhernofret's account of the Mysteries of Osiris which follows the procession of Wepwawet is described in the following terms: "I conduction the great procession and I followed the god in his steps. I let the divine ship sail, while Thoth directed the trip." This tells us that the next event was the departure of the great procession in which the statue of Osiris, Lord of Abydos, left the temple and began its journey to the tomb. Ikhernofret says that he "conducted the great procession" which implies that he took an active role in the transportation of the sacred barque containing the cult statue but then his statement that he "followed the god in his steps" seems to imply that he walked behind the cult statue in the procession and so he was not one of those carrying the sacred barque.
The clause translated as "I let the divine ship sail" is dı͗.n=ı͗ sḳd dpt-nṯr in the original ancient Egyptian which employs the grammatical construction [form of verb dı͗] + [verb] + [noun], which can be read as the stronger "I caused [noun] to [verb]" as well as the weaker "I let [noun] [verb], so his involvement in the sailing of the divine ship may be stronger than the translation implies. The god Thoth who is said to have "directed the trip" was also one of the subsidiary deities enshrined in the cult temple of Osiris at Abydos as the aforementioned stela of Thutmose I names "Thoth, Might of the Gods, Foremost of Hesret" among the temple's occupants. So this means that the statue of Thoth went ahead of the main body of the procession in order to lead the way though of course it was Ikhernofret who really was in charge of the direction of movement in practice.
The destination of the great procession which started from the main Abydos temple is specified in the following piece of text: "His beautiful weapons having been fastened, he proceeded to the district of Peqer, after I had cleared the path for the god to his tomb south of Peqer." The weapons mentioned at the beginning of this sentence are there to be used in the next ritual action following the arrival of the sacred barque at the tomb which will be described later. Peqer was the ancient Egyptian name for the location known today as Umm El Qa'ab which was the necropolis of the Early Dynastic kings at Abydos. The tomb of the First Dynasty king Djer was revered as the tomb of Osiris in the Middle Kingdom and so would have been the destination of the procession which is described here. This is how we know that Osiris must have been dead from the beginning as it says that he is going to his tomb.
Ikhernofret says that he "cleared the path for the god" which once again connects him to Wepwawet whose name means "Opener of the Ways". It is the same Egyptian word wꜣwt that is translated as the word "path" on the Ikhernofret Stela and "ways" in Wepwawet's name. The root of the word translated as "cleared" is ḏsr which can also mean "sacred" so that offers another layer of meaning to this action since another name for the necropolis was tꜣ ḏsr "sacred land".
The ancient Egyptian funerary practices were closely based on the Osirian mythos so we might expect to find an equivalent of the great procession of Osiris to his tomb in this context as well. This has been identified in the tradition of transporting the coffin in which the mummy of the deceased person was sealed to the tomb on a sledge dragged by a bull and accompanied by the mourners. This procession of the coffin to the tomb is depicted in the vignette to Chapter 1 of the Book of the Dead and is alluded to in the Pyramid Texts as well. In solar terms it can be interpreted as alluding to the setting of the sun in the western horizon of the sky in the evening as the necropolis was usually located to the west of the settlement to which it was attached so the procession of the coffin to the tomb followed the same direction of motion as the evening sun. The phrase "to go to ones horizon" was a euphemism for the simple verb "to die" which shows the link between the procession of the coffin to the tomb and the setting of the sun in the horizon.
The next part tells us that the Mysteries of Osiris included a mock battle and that Ikhernofret in his capacity as the chief officiant at the ceremony and therefore as the representative of Horus had to symbolically defeat the god's enemies. His account goes like this: "I championed Wenennefer on that day of great combat, and I overthrew all his enemies on the sandbanks of Nedit." The word nḏ which is translated as "champion" here again links Ikhernofret to Horus who was called nḏ ı͗t=f "Champion of His Father". Wenennefer is an epithet of Osiris which means something like "Beautiful Existent One" and reflects the idea that death is unable take away his existence. Nedit was the mythical location of the murder of Osiris at the hands of Seth in the Pyramid Texts which now becomes the place of the destruction of his enemies who are made to suffer the same fate to which they subjected him in a fitting act of retributive justice.
This episode in the Mysteries of Osiris featuring a mock battle may be alluded to in several places in the afterlife literature which is of course strongly Osirian. The Book of the Dead contains an example of this in Chapter 17, in the first gloss to the utterance associated with the vignette of the two lions facing in opposite directions with the sun rising in the horizon between them, when it says "As for yesterday, that is Osiris. As for tomorrow, that is Re on that day in which the foes of the Lord of All were destroyed and his son Horus was made to rule." The epithet "Lord of All" usually refers to Atum but in this case it must be referring to Osiris due to the fact that Horus is stated to be his son who inherited his throne. The destruction of the enemies of Osiris which is mentioned in this chapter must be alluding to Horus's defeat of the followers of Seth and this would have been the mythic prototype of the mock battle which occurred every year in the celebration of the Mysteries of Osiris.
The statement that Horus was made to rule on the same day that the enemies of Osiris were defeated may indicate that the coronation rituals may have involved a mock battle in which the enemies of the new king were symbolically defeated. This would need to be investigated further before reaching a conclusion on this matter so the idea should remain tentative.
The ancient Egyptian funerary practices were closely based on the Osirian mythos so we might expect to find an equivalent of the destruction of the enemies of Osiris in this context as well. This has been identified in the practice of slaughtering the bull which was selected to drag the sledge on which the coffin was transported to the tomb. The Pyramid Texts identify the bull with Seth who was sentenced in the divine tribunal to carry the body of Osiris to his tomb and be killed to provide for his funerary meal as punishment for the murder of his brother. The slaughter of the bull in the funerary rituals occurs at the same point as the mock battle in the celebration of the Mysteries of Osiris as in both cases it happens following the arrival of the procession at the tomb.
In the solar analogy that we considered previously the defeat of the god's enemies who attempted to violate his bodily integrity may be seen to correspond to the fight against the serpent enemy which takes place during Ra's passage through the underworld during the night. The passivity of the god is a common feature in both episodes with the actual work done by the servants of the god namely Horus in the example in which Osiris is the central figure and the crew of the solar barque in the example in which Ra takes that role. It also occurs at the right time sequentially as it happens after the setting of the sun in the western horizon in the evening which is equivalent to the arrival of the procession at the tomb and before the rising of the sun in the morning which is equivalent to the departure of the party on the return journey back towards the temple.
The next episode of the Mysteries of Osiris is omitted from the account on the Ikhernofret Stela which may be due to the fact that it was considered the most sacred part but we know from other sources that there was a night vigil at the tomb. The Lamentations of Isis and Nephythys were recited by two women acting in the role of those two goddesses who mourned the death of their brother. The sakhu rituals of transfiguration were then performed and from this point the resurrection of Osiris was then regarded as having been accomplished so the statue of the god could return to his temple where the people rejoiced at seeing him appear in glory having conquered death. In the equivalent part of the ancient Egyptian funerary practices there was no return procession as the sarcophagus was left in the tomb but it was believed that the person could go forth by day as a radiant spirit. In the solar analogy this correspond to the rising of the sun in the eastern horizon of the sky in the morning after having defeated the serpent enemy during the night in order to shine light upon the faces of the people living on the earth and cause rejoicing in their hearts.
In the New Kingdom the Mysteries of Osiris celebrated at Abydos became combined with the Sokar festival celebrated at Memphis to result in the most fully developed form of the festival which was identified on temple calendars as kꜣ-ḥr-kꜣ whence the Coptic name of the fourth month. The festival was celebrated over several days from the twenty-second to the thirtieth of the fourth month of the inundation season. It combined elements from the Mysteries of Osiris which ceremonially re-enacted the death and resurrection of the murdered god with elements from the festival of Sokar which were intended to assure the fertility of the land.
The first ceremony of the Sokar festival was hacking the earth which was originally a fertility rite with the aim of blessing the planting of the crops which occurred during this season but now it had another layer of meaning as it ritually opened the ground in order to enable it to receive the body of Osiris at his burial a few days later. The procession of the statue of Osiris to the tomb would be marked by the burial of figurines of the god Sokar made out of earth mixed with seeds so that the sprouting of the seeds would occur in time for the resurrection of Osiris to be celebrated. On the last day of the festival the chief officiant ceremonially would erect a Djed pillar to symbolise the resurrection of Osiris which was achieved by the dutiful actions of his son.

2023.06.04 17:51 shtiidlep UR22C vs Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen

If this sub is not about gear cut me. I read the rules but still I'm not sure. Yet there's a proper flair, so...
I'm planning on getting a Rode NT1A mic, IE-100 pro earphones and either UR22C or Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen for my home studio setup. I have no standard room, so my room will likely be untreated. I mostly record electric guitar and I'd like to also record vocals and my acoustic. I currently own (for about 14 years) a line 6 ux1.
As a product the UR22C appeals more to me for the following reasons:
But I keep being bombarded by suggestions of getting a Scarlett 2i2. Some considerations about it:
I like the UR22C instinctively and for the extra stuff or maybe cause I think the most commercial product isn't always the best. But if Scarlett really beats it in basic stuff (audio quality), enough that it makes a difference for my setup and needs, I may need to reconsider.

In the far past there existed the elder god Jun, an ancient deity associated with thought and sentience and the only known elder god within the realm. She is believed to be the creator of this world and the entirety of its life. In the first days of its creation, she established the godless human race, alongside ten sects of beings corresponding to each of the four core elemental, four catalytic, organic, and teleportation runestones, each with specific properties and powers for the sects' followers to dedicate their lives towards. Likewise, she created the ten gods of the world to oversee their assigned followers. The runestones were held by the gods, and runic altars corresponding to each runestone were scattered across the lands for their associated followers to create personal rune supplies for their development. Soon after, the core religions were established for followers to announce their loyalty and allegiance to their associated gods. A further two runestones with modification properties corresponding to global balance were not provided with associated beings, instead being retained by Jun herself with their altars placed upon a remote land to ensure continuity of balance. With peace and unity amongst the sects as they developed functioning societies and branched into further lands, Jun returned to the elder god's realm and becoming dormant in a slumber ever since.
The twelve runic altars globally influence the climate and weather patterns, environment, and societies of the lands, with amplified local effects around their locations:
Light and Shadow Altars: Provide balance, alongside alternating pulsations to trigger global day and night cycles.
The initial religions corresponding to the ten gods evolved into the modern-day factions of the world, each enhanced by their altars’ powers and commanded by dedicated leaders. Although established as a godless division with no dedicated altar, over time some humans pledged allegiance to chosen gods, migrating to the lands of the gods’ followers to seek lifestyles enriched by the powers of their runic altars.
Godless Territory
Map
Breska is a temperate continent situated in the south-west region of the eastern multicontinental landmass. It is considered godless territory where the bulk of the world's human population resides, and is the only continent without a runic altar. The territory consists of two general regions: the Breskan mainland to the west, and the Breskan Intercontinental Strip (BICS) to the east. The latter connects the mainland to the eastern multicontinental landmass via the vast country of Bongola - part of the water territory of Inersia - which houses the World Gate on its south coast for passage into different worlds.
Administration is centralised within the mainland country of Bragos, housing government officials and the territory's militia. The surrounding countries act as hubs for resource-gathering for development of the territory, as well as buffer zones from potential attacks. Countries of the BICS in contrast have some degree of autonomy from the mainland's influence. They generally consist of mixed agrarian and fishing communities due to the abundance of fertile soils and fish stocks, and often supply surplus yields to the mainland in exchange for useful resources.
The natives have established a quick-travel network across the mainland after the unearthing of a strange runic obelisk in Bragos, and subsequently a further nine obelisks with similar properties in various surrounding countries. They discovered a method to tune their spellbook to each obelisk, allowing for basic teleportation capabilities across their lands. It is unknown whether further obelisks exist across the world.

2023.06.04 17:45 shtiidlep UR22C vs Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen

I'm planning on getting a Rode NT1A mic, IE-100 pro earphones and either UR22C or Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen for my home studio setup. I have no standard room, so my room will likely be untreated. I mostly record electric guitar and I'd like to also record vocals and my acoustic. I currently own (for about 14 years) a line 6 ux1.
As a product the UR22C appeals more to me for the following reasons: - aesthetically / stronger box - in-DSP fx (although I use vsts almost exclusively) - they say something about a loopback function. I know it can be achieved through software but that's CPU intensive. It's not that I plan to use that often though - Steinberg brand and drivers / sound like a reliable option - daw/direct monitor mix option / but I prefer full daw monitoring if latency is ok But I keep being bombarded by suggestions of getting a Scarlett 2i2. Some considerations about it: - Scarlett is much much more popular and commercial. Is that because it's better or everyone buys it because everyone else does? - Less noise than UR22C. Will that have any actual difference for my mic in mostly untreated rooms? - Sweet/colored preamps + air function. Do these make such a difference? Won't most people color the sound in mixing anyway? - UR22C has high headphone output impedance. Except a YouTube video stating such, I cannot confirm that in official specifications. They provide a pack with the UR22C and some unbranded headphones that are low impedance, so I guess that's not an issue (using ie100 pro low impedance earphones).
I like the UR22C instinctively and for the extra stuff or maybe cause I think the most commercial product isn't always the best. But if Scarlett really beats it in basic stuff (audio quality), enough that it makes a difference for my setup and needs, I may need to reconsider.

2023.06.04 17:42 Ali_Strnad The Mysteries of Osiris at Abydos

2023.06.04 17:41 AceDinwen Album's end beeping - shitty theory

Ok, so I've written it in a comment to some other post, but as I'm thinking now, the post got quite obscure, and most probably nobody would have seen it (which naybe would have been better, true) so I'm rewriting it here.
So, in the end of Maleficus Geminus... we hear a beeping, which some inferprete as a signal. I have not decoded it, didn't even have time to try, but conceived my own assuption associated with it. Also I've seen that somebody on on facebook, posted that at the end of MG Spotify instantly switches to Interdimensional Transmission, which, allegedly might be a hint as well - personally idk, switching to the first song from the album after the last one seems like a normal thing, but I don't use Spotify myself, so I include it here in case I was NOT normal.
Ok, my theory, which is too logical to prove true in Gloryhammer universe:
1) It's said in the Celestial Booklet of Lore, that Zargy made MULTIPLE clones hidden beneath Dundee
2) It's said there is a killswitch by OG Zargothrax, which results in a clone waking up when Zargy is killed - as presented in the previous album - in the form of Interdimensional Transmission. The clone gets the memory of OG updated, as far as we know
3) In the end of this album it is likely that by the destruction of the timeline, Starlords killed everybody there (except Angus) including Zargothrax.
It would mean that even if Zargothrax died, a new clone would have been awaken - with a knowledge what NOT to do (in order not to repeat 38B timeline)
Additionally: At the end of it we get a morse-code-like beeping and spotify switches straight to Interdimensional Transmission. Maybe we don't have to decipher the code, or it doesn't really have to mean anything. It may simply point to the fact that, if Zargothrax was killed, the next clone will wake up.
*Waiting for Chris to scold me for fucked-up fan theory*

2023.06.04 17:36 -K--I--A- Decade 20th anniversary.

Will Decade appears in a 10th anniversary Reiwa rider series?
If he does I would like for 10 possible reasons:
•How did he possibly got ressurected by Woz by the book?
•Brand new base form design and final form.
•If Tsukasa had some relevance to the plot, i would like to see him as a mentor.
•Bringing back the Og Trio casts and expanding their new look of Hikari photobooth studio.
•Make him some justice to the plot series (for real this time with heart and gold!)
•Decade vs Zi-O rematch in a possible spin-off series by himself.
•New friends and enemies to meet each other.
•If Toei producer Shirakura was officially done with the character, Make him a proper send-off to the character on the series especially Inoue himself who's currently the longest running main rider cast in the franchise.
•New Decadriver 20th anniversary design with a new functionality or added new features.
•Keeping his personality but mature and wiser.

2023.06.04 17:24 nells_hope New Gallery Update

So idk when that happened, I remember I did read a post on reddit about it or at least a comment where someone complained about how the new search function for the gallery works now but since I haven't played in a while I didn't pay much attention.
When I opened the game today and tried to find a specific room on the gallery, I couldn't find anything, since it now searches for everything that contains one of the words you typed in. Want a cute vampire themed wedding venue? Here you have every build that contains the word vampire, wedding, and venue. And none of the builds shown, will contain all three.
Now for the venue it isn't much of a problem, because my skills are good enough to kind of make up something or I'm just using Google to find a YouTube speedbuild but for my gameplay now that sucks.
I will not be able to find any houses that fit my standards anymore because the search function is basically unusable for me now. And I was already very bad at finding houses or rooms that fit what I wanted. And I suck at building and don't like it much either so that's out of the question for me, if I want to enjoy the game.
I'm so sad about this and idk if anyone knows a workaround or something for it, because only for the rooms there are a few more filter options now but even they don't do anything helpful.
And idk if this is even the right sub for this, I'm still so lost on reddit and already got comments taken down because of this weird karma system here that I still don't understand 😭

2023.06.04 17:14 facetime010101 Aveeno Baby Calming Comfort Moisturizing Lotion with Relaxing Lavender & Vanilla Scents

Aveeno Baby Calming Comfort Moisturizing Lotion with Relaxing Lavender & Vanilla Scents

Caution: It's important to remember that these evaluations are guides to potential health concerns and not definitive measures of a product's safety or efficacy. They are based on individual ingredients rather than any negative effects the final product may have. The way ingredients interact in a formulation can influence their potential impact, and the presence of a specific ingredient does not automatically equate to harm when used in a product. It's always crucial to do your own research, consider the product as a whole, and keep in mind that personal reactions can vary greatly. When making decisions about personal care products, it is recommended to consult with healthcare professionals.

Brief: This baby lotion contains Dimethicone, a type of silicone that creates a protective barrier on the skin, helping to keep it hydrated. However, it's also formulated with Benzyl Alcohol and Fragrance, which may cause irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive babies. The inclusion of Petrolatum, a petroleum derivative, might be of concern to some parents due to potential impurities. Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour is generally soothing, but could pose an issue for babies with gluten intolerance or sensitivity. Sodium Chloride (salt) in the formula could lead to dryness with overuse. As always, it's advisable to perform a patch test to rule out any potential adverse reactions.

Ingredients: Dimethicone, Water, glycerin, distearyldimonium chloride, petrolatum, isopropyl palmitate, cetyl alcohol, avena sativa (oat) kernel flour, benzyl alcohol, fragrance, sodium chloride.

Typical ingredients description and side effects

  • Dimethicone
    • Dimethicone is a type of silicone used in many skin and hair care products, including baby lotion, due to its smoothing properties and ability to form a barrier on the skin, which can help keep it hydrated.
    • Potential Side Effects:
      • Skin Irritation: Some people may experience skin irritation from products containing dimethicone, especially if they have sensitive skin. This can include symptoms like redness, itching, or a rash.
      • Allergic Reactions: Allergic reactions to dimethicone are rare, but they can occur. Symptoms of an allergic reaction can include hives, swelling, itching, or difficulty breathing.
      • Acne and Skin Congestion: While dimethicone is non-comedogenic (meaning it shouldn't clog pores), some people find that it can contribute to skin congestion or acne, possibly due to the barrier it forms on the skin, which may trap dirt or oil. This is more likely to be a concern for individuals with acne-prone skin and less of a concern for infants.
    • EWG Skin Grade: 4

  • Distearyldimonium Chloride
    • Distearyldimonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt that's often used in personal care products such as lotions, creams, and hair conditioners because of its anti-static and conditioning properties. It helps to soften and soothe the skin and to reduce or prevent static electricity, improving the feel and manageability of hair. Like any ingredient, Distearyldimonium Chloride can potentially cause side effects in some individuals, but it's generally considered safe as used in cosmetics and personal care products.
    • Potential Side Effects:
      • Skin Irritation: This is the most common potential side effect. While Distearyldimonium Chloride is generally considered safe and non-irritating for most people, individuals with sensitive skin or allergies may experience irritation. Signs of irritation can include redness, itching, burning, or discomfort at the site of application.
      • Eye Irritation: If a product containing Distearyldimonium Chloride comes into contact with the eyes, it could potentially cause irritation.
    • EWG Skin Grade: 4

  • Petrolatum
    • Petrolatum, commonly known as petroleum jelly, is often used in baby care products including lotions due to its excellent moisturizing properties. It forms a barrier on the skin, preventing moisture loss and protecting the skin from external irritants. This makes it particularly beneficial for treating dry or chapped skin.
    • Potential Side Effects:
      • Skin Irritation: Some babies might experience minor skin irritation from products containing petrolatum. This could present as redness, rash, or a slight stinging sensation.
      • Potential for Breakouts: Petrolatum forms a barrier on the skin that could potentially trap dirt and oils. While breakouts are less common in babies than in teenagers and adults, this could potentially lead to minor skin issues.
      • Potential Contaminants: There has been some concern about impurities present in petrolatum, such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which have been linked to health issues. However, the petrolatum used in cosmetics and personal care products is highly refined and must meet strict safety standards.
    • EWG Skin Grade: 4

  • Benzyl Alcohol
    • Benzyl Alcohol is a type of alcohol used as a solvent and preservative in many types of cosmetics and personal care products, including baby lotion. In small amounts, it is generally safe for use in these types of products. However, like any ingredient, it can potentially cause side effects in some individuals.
    • Potential Side Effects:
      • Skin Irritation: In some individuals, particularly those with sensitive skin or allergies, Benzyl Alcohol may cause skin irritation. Symptoms can include redness, itching, burning, or discomfort at the site of application.
      • Allergic Reactions: While uncommon, some people might have an allergic reaction to Benzyl Alcohol. Symptoms of an allergic reaction can include severe skin redness, hives, swelling, and in severe cases, difficulty breathing.
      • Eye Irritation: If a product containing Benzyl Alcohol comes into contact with the eyes, it can potentially cause eye irritation.
      • Toxicity in High Concentrations: High concentrations of Benzyl Alcohol can be toxic, especially in premature newborns. However, the concentrations used in cosmetics and personal care products are generally low and considered safe.
    • EWG Skin Grade: 4

  • Fragrance
    • Fragrance in baby lotion can provide a pleasant smell and enhance the experience of using the product. However, "fragrance" is a broad term that can refer to any one of thousands of ingredients used to scent personal care products. Because the specific ingredients used in a fragrance are often not listed, it can be difficult to know exactly what's in a product and how it might affect your baby.
    • Potential Side Effects:
      • Skin Irritation or Allergic Reactions: The most common issue with fragrances is that they can irritate the skin or cause an allergic reaction. This is particularly a concern for individuals with sensitive skin or known allergies. Symptoms can include redness, itching, swelling, or a rash.
      • Respiratory Distress: Some people may experience respiratory issues such as difficulty breathing, wheezing, or coughing when exposed to certain fragrances, particularly if they have asthma or other respiratory conditions.
      • Headaches or Dizziness: Some people may be sensitive to strong smells and can experience headaches or dizziness due to fragrances.
      • Contact Dermatitis: This is a red, itchy rash caused by direct contact with a substance or an allergic reaction to it.
    • EWG Skin Grade: 8

The grading system used by EWG in the Skin Deep database is as follows:
1 to 2: Low hazard
3 to 6: Moderate hazard
7 to 10: High hazard

2023.06.04 17:09 TopDoggo16 My ideas for features in GTA6. Thoughts?

  1. Gangs : the best feature so far in any GTA game. control territories, sell drugs, smuggle weapons, all within your territory and look to expand to others. to add to it, partner up with other gangs as a "truce" to either ensure peaceful operation or to take down other gangs together. In the online feature, partner up with players worldwide and form your own gang.
  2. Functional Airports : derived from the train systems in RDR2. Unlike GTA 5 where the only time you fly using an airport is during the "Bury The Hatchet " mission. GTA 6 is rumored to have 3 cities : 1 main, large city and two smaller sub-cities. It'd be great if Rockstar added one large airport to the main city and two smaller airports and allowed players to fly in between them, just like RDR2 does with stations. These functionable airports would also allow for smuggling missions. A player could either fly as a passenger or complete flight school missions to become a pilot and fly jets. These airports also have hangars, which can be purchased and allows players to store Jets, and carry out smuggling operations or rent their jet out for charters.
  3. Karma System : This should be a must feature and we've seen it work pretty well in RDR2. In GTA 6, a player who commits too many crimes gets randomly followed by the police, or FBI, is denied access to certain weapons, and has police spawn faster the next time he commits a crime. Also, certain properties are outrightly made unavailable for purchase to the player, or are made more expensive. The only way a player can "increase" their karma is by either doing community service, which will serve as a side mission similar to "Strangers and Freaks" in GTA 5, serve prison time, or risk trying to bribe their way out.
  4. Dating and Relationships : prominent in San Andreas and GTA 4. Player must be able to ask women out for dates, and their success of scoring one depends on the player health, fitness, crime record and money. These dates would again be similar to all three protagonists hanging out post epilogue (Option C) and would involve playing tennis, going for a drink, etc etc.
  5. Player Health and Stamina : It was annoying how in GTA 5 players could not eat or exercise and have stamina and health remain pretty much the same. In GTA 6, a player must sleep from time to time, eat regularly, and has a stat bar in the menu show if the player is underweight, healthy or overweight, depending on food intake and sleep and exercise. A player must have an option to join a gym and workout, which would subsequently affect the players appearance (becomes shredded, buffed, or slim depending on the type of exercise). These exercises and the body type the player choses must in some way affect some missions which involve scuba diving, running, parkour, hand to hand combat, etc. Mind you, RDR2 portrays these features very well (Health Stamina, sleep and weight) so Rockstar should not have an issue replicating it.
  6. Haircuts : Yea GTA 5 took a massive L with regards to this feature. Heavily inspired from RDR2, a players must be able to grow hair organically and get haircuts accordingly. The lazy GTA 5 logic where a bald haircut could transform into an afro shouldn't exist in GTA 6. same applies to beards.
  7. Cars running out of fuel : makes the game actually realistic. Must include at least one mission in which you're in the midst of a police chase and you run out of fuel. Also, assuming we have robbery missions in GTA 6, the more cut your getaway driver takes, the more fuel is made available to you for your escape.
  8. Stock Market : The stock market system in GTA 5 was good enough but one thing that was bothersome was that you couldn't affect the stock market in ways, except for the missions Lester had for you. For example if you blew up the planes of an airline, the stock market would remain unaffected. I feel GTA 6 should introduce more ways to affect the stock market. Rob stores to see a slight fall in the selling price of the franchises value. Crash your car into a cab to see their value drop as well. You get the idea.
  9. Festivals : not sure if any Rockstar game has had this feature. But It'd be nice if GTA 6 had a calendar system that let's you tracks days and months and along the way, the people of Vice City celebrate major festivals like Easter, Halloween, and Christmas. Bonus Easter egg where you see Santa Claus flying across the sky at 3 am on Christmas eve.
  10. Multiple Choice Dialogue System : it's pretty boring where in GTA cutscenes all we've done so far is sit and watch. It'd add to the immersive experience of the game if you were to be provided with multiple dialogue choices, and they affected the story or the mission in a very minor way.
That was all I've got for now. What are your thoughts?

2023.06.04 17:07 Flimsy-Union1524 The FAB documents about gigantic UFOs that flew through the Brazilian skies - Archives of the Brazilian Air Force record the appearance of giant UFOs over Brazil. Objects measuring 100m, 1,500m, 3,700m and even larger ones, over 10Km in length.

Records by the Brazilian Air Force detail giant objects
On May 19, 1986, on the so-called Official Night of UFOs in Brazil, more than 50 objects, some gigantic, were seen in 10 Brazilian states and neighboring Uruguay. One of the objects seen by people on the ground, from aircraft and captured by Brazilian Air Force (FAB) radar, was approximately 1,500 m long, being, at various times, accompanied by other smaller objects.
This was not the only episode recorded by the FAB, of colossal objects in Brazilian airspace. Ten days later, on May 29, 1986, another object, even larger, was sighted by people on the edge of the city of Santos (SP). This object was also captured by CINDACTA and APP-SP radars and its size was estimated at 11 km in length.
According to statements by flight controllers on duty that night, there were several other smaller objects, at different points in the Southeast region. At one point, such objects headed towards this larger object, on the high seas, which possibly collected them, disappearing at high speed, towards the sky.
Years later, on April 26, 2003, around 3:00 am, people in the southern region of Campinas observed a gigantic flying object, circular in shape and reddish in color, crossing over the region, heading towards the city of São Paulo. This object would have the approximate size of 1,500m in length and moved at high speed.
The Brazilian Air Force recorded the fact on a standard UFO sighting registration form. The official documentation is already publicly available on the National Archive website and on the Fenomenum Portal. Less than a year later, on March 1, 2004, another case involving colossal objects occurred. Around 06:15, an object, with an estimated size of 3,700m, was observed 46Km south of the city of Goiânia (GO).
The object, which remained in the region for approximately two hours, was observed with the naked eye and with the aid of binoculars. It was shaped like a raindrop and white in color. At the same time, radars at Anápolis Air Base (GO) captured another UFO, to the right of the first, which had an estimated size of 10Km, having a semicircular shape. A TAM pilot, passing through the region, visually confirmed the presence of the object and provided additional details. The UFO had three spikes on its bottom and two lights at its ends.
This fact was also registered in the registration form of ufological facts, adopted by the Brazilian Air Force. Official documentation on this incident is also available on the National Archives of Brazil website and on the Fenomenum Portal.
These cases are not unique. Several similar cases were recorded by the Armed Forces of different countries throughout history, confirming the unequivocal reality that part of the ufological phenomenon is of an intelligent nature, supported by very high technology not yet available in our humanity.

How Does Ikaria Lean Belly Juice Powder Work?

Excessive amounts of ceramides, a type of lipid molecule, are a leading cause of weight gain in many individuals. These ceramides promote fat storage and slow down metabolism. However, Ikaria Lean Belly Juice contains ingredients specifically designed to block the formation of ceramide-producing enzymes and facilitate the breakdown of existing ceramides. This targeted approach promotes healthy weight loss by eliminating these harmful molecules from your body.
In addition to removing ceramide, Ikaria Lean Belly Juice supports the body's natural fat-burning mechanism. Ingredients such as EGCG, African mango extract, and hibiscus have been scientifically proven to boost metabolism and enhance fat burning. Incorporating these ingredients into your daily routine can burn fat throughout the day and achieve faster weight loss. Moreover, the inclusion of Bioperine®, Resveratrol, and Blackcurrant Extract in Ikaria Lean Belly Juice helps block fat production, allowing your liver to focus on burning existing fat instead.

What are the Ingredients used in Ikaria Lean Belly Juice?

The carefully selected ingredients in Ikaria Lean Belly Juice play a vital role in promoting weight loss. Let's take a closer look at some of the key components:
  1. Milk Thistle: This biennial plant produces silymarin, a powerful herbal remedy that helps the liver detoxify itself from excessive ceramides and break down stubborn fat.
  2. Dandelion: Known for its slimming properties, dandelion aids in the removal of excess ceramides. Its prebiotic fiber insulin supports digestion and relieves constipation.
  3. Capsaicin: This ingredient boosts the body's metabolic rate, facilitating faster fat burning and providing an energy boost.
  4. Fucoxanthin: Derived from brown seaweed is a potent carotenoid that has been shown to alleviate the signs of diabetes, cancer, and obesity. It also protects brain cells.
  5. Pectin Oranges: Citrus pectin, obtained from citrus fruits, is a potent antioxidant that purifies the blood, removes heavy metals, and promotes healthy cell function.
  6. Chinese Ginseng: Well-known for its healing properties, it increases energy levels and aids in weight loss by shrinking fat cells.
  7. Resveratrol: This dietary supplement reduces body fat, controls blood lipids, and improves joint discomfort and mental health.

2023.06.04 16:59 primarist The more I meditate, the more confused I get

I've been debating making this post for a while now because I'm not entirely sure what I'd even write about, but in the spirit of getting it out there, I'll write stream-of-consciousness style and hope that it makes sense at the end.

I've had an on-again, off-again meditation and mindfulness practice for a few years, but have really begun ramping it up and getting more invested in the last 3 months. I regularly sit for 20-40 minutes a day, and try to have little mindfulness moments throughout my day as well. I've also dealt with depression and anxiety, and I would be lying if I said that I wasn't partly pursuing this path because of it.

I'm confused about what anything even is anymore. If everything is just a story that our minds are creating, what even is anything? Whats the point of actually pursuing anything? Isn't any outward action just an attempt to fulfill some desire? In an extreme sense, eating is just what we do to fulfill a deeply rooted desire, but still a desire, for food. I know meditation, on some level, is something I'm doing to escape depression, or maybe escape my "default mode" of being, or something else... but I'm doing it for a reason, right? Why else would anyone do anything if not for some reason. But we shouldn't pursue mindfulness out of some kind of wanting, but does that mean you can only be mindful or meditate if you dont want (or not want) to do it?

Recently, I started seeing a new girl and some relationship stories started to come up in me. These are stories I'm really familiar with, not being good enough, being rejected, found lacking. I know these are all stories based on some deeper self-story I have of myself, probably. But that in itself is also a mental object and really why couldn't I just fundamentally rewire my entire brain to have a different story? But then its just a new story which is equally false. And what even is "me" anyways? "I" feel comfortable with this type of person, "I" prefer XYZ love language, no different than saying "I" prefer olives on my pizza. Its all just stories and object and notions, second-hand rules of thumb we've created for some reason, and what is even left after all of that is dissolved? Is it worth it to dissolve all of that? No doubt, it makes it easier to interact with the world and the people in it if we have a sense of self. If I imagine somehow unraveling all of these mental objects and notions and being left with something at the end, how would I even function? What does a job interview look like? How do I answer "what are your interests" on a first date? I guess I'm just confused, but even this is just another form of thinking, because confusion presupposes some kind of thinking, that relies on some story about the object of your confusion. So now I'm confused about confusion.

So hopefully some aspect of that makes sense, even though reading back over it, it sounds like the ravings of a lunatic. I suppose it doesn't make a difference if it makes sense because its all just more stories that other peoples brains are telling me about the story my brain invented. Anyways, cheers and thanks for listening to my TED Talk 😂
