"I'mFiona. Amy told me everything!" At 10 a.m. Sunday morning, Frank Newton (a pseudonym), a software engineer at a Silicon Valley tech company, received this text on WhatsApp. ) received a text message like this on WhatsApp.
He thought someone must have sent the message by mistake, so he politely replied to tell her she had sent the wrong number.
He then sent a message saying he was very sorry and explained that he had just found out that he had been cheated on by his boyfriend and that he had been blocked from calling him, and that his new number had been sent to her by a friend. The tone was sincere and pitiful.
Faced with this strange heartbroken girl, Frank comforted her out of kindness, but he didn't expect that the other party would treat him as a tree hole and chatted up. Under the girl's active attack, in the next few days, the two talked about their feelings and work, from poetry and songs to philosophy of life, and became online friends who seemed to have nothing to talk about.
It was not until half a month later when Fiona talked about an investment she was making that had earned her $200,000 and invited Frank to join her that Frank suddenly realized that he might have encountered the "Pig-butchering" that had been widely circulated recently.
Since the year 2022, "piggy banks" have become more and more prevalent overseas, starting to target foreigners who have never heard of this scam, and this unintentional text message is just one of the new games that have recently become popular. Including many Americans have been played by a variety of scam schemes dizzy, unwittingly cheated out of a lot of money. And what is surprising is that even the high-tech talent gathered in Silicon Valley has become the most affected by this wave of "piggy bank" scams.

In recent months, many Americans have received a variety of strange "wrong" text messages from a variety of unfamiliar numbers.
Some of them are simple and straightforward, and they come up with a Hi, which has a feeling of inviting the king into the jar.
Some will make up a story to get close to you, or to arouse your sympathy. For example, \"How have you been? We haven't seen each other since the last charity dinner\", \"The meatballs you made last time were so good, can you tell me how you made them? The last time you bought a house, how much did you pay for it? \"Doctor, our dog suddenly vomits and can't walk, can you help me schedule a doctor's appointment?\"

Some will set up a successful persona for themselves, tell you his new job phone number, ask you to go to the golf course to talk about cooperation, so that you have the illusion of a misplaced connection with the big boss, thinking that good luck falls from the sky.
The purpose of all these messages is to lure you into replying to them, and then set you up step by step. This type of scam is currently happening on most of the overseas messaging social software, focusing on Messages, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc. Although they have different methods of entry, they all have some similar schemes in summary:
First they will make up a name to address you to make you think they are sending the wrong message, then they will send you a "good man card" after you reply to introduce yourself, asking where you are, what work. Once you have some trust in them, they will recommend an investment they are working on, which could be a cold-calling wealth management company or a digital currency.
They will not force you to invest a lot of money at first, most of them will be short-term, small investments, but with high returns. In addition, they often lie that most of their investment proceeds will be taken to charity, so that you believe them and keep adding more and more, and finally accumulate to a certain amount and then they suddenly disappear with the money.
Of course, there are also some more simple and brutal, more test of human nature cheating method, such as directly to the account password, and account balance in the text message to you, and then add a sentence at the end "do not tell others", lure you into their phishing links.

Linkedin Becomes a New \"Pig Kill\" Site as Scammers Target Tech Employees
In addition to using chat software to send mass text messages to commit fraud, this year's scammers have also learned to personalize their scams, targeting workers in overseas workplaces.
Many of the recently exposed fraud cases are employees of major technology companies in Silicon Valley. They are often scammed not on general chat software, but from Linkedin, a more professional and high threshold workplace social networking software.
Recently, SF Examiner reported on two Silicon Valley employees who recently lost more than a million dollars due to "piggybacking". What they had in common was that they were first friended by scammers on Linkedin, then moved on to WhatsApp, where they chatted with them for months to gain their trust, then were led to invest in digital currencies on seemingly genuine and reliable websites, and ended up losing everything.
"I never thought this would happen to me because I am a software engineer myself and I thought I could tell the reliability of the websites." One of the victims, R, said. He said he believed the other person because his LinkedIn page showed that he graduated from the same university as himself, while they talked about the university during the chat.
"The scammer creates everything too real and makes you walk into his trap step by step."
CNBC recently attended an online meeting of LinkedIn scam victims, where participants were scammed out of anywhere from $200,000 to $1.6 million. On Reddit forums, many users have also reported that they too have encountered \"kill pans\" starting with Linkedin.
Some of these scammers disguise themselves as pilots of big companies, some create a rich white beauty persona, some play headhunters, and some falsely claim to be in a key position in a technology company. Click into their Linkedin pages, you will find that most of them have some commonalities: a handsome or beautiful avatar stolen from nowhere, a shiny resume, generally graduated from an Ivy League school, now in a large company as a middle or senior.
They also have obvious preferences when looking for prey, such as focusing on people with similar work experience or learning backgrounds to their own personas, focusing on those whose homepages show they are looking for work, willing to expand their networks, and so on.
In Silicon Star's visit, we found that the "piggy bank" on LinkedIn seems to have suddenly become very active from this year.
\"I am a person who checks LinkedIn every day, because there are often recruiting information sent by headhunters. Since about half a year ago, I started to receive a lot of invitations from various Connect, basically what investment or technology companies with high titles, talk to you a few sentences and ask if you can add WhatsApp or Line,\" Alex, a Chinese engineer in Silicon Valley, told Silicon Star People. \"Clicking into their homepage just didn't feel right, at first it was one or two people a week, lately it's been almost every day.\"
"Mainly these scams used to be on Facebook, Ins and other lifestyle social software, LinkedIn because it's more vertical in the workplace, the information on it is generally more reliable, I didn't expect that recently it was also targeted by scammers." Ken, another Chinese engineer in Silicon Valley, also told Silicon Star People.
At the same time, they also told Silicon Star People that although they themselves could quickly realize that it was a scam, for young people who just work and want to expand their network on LinkedIn, as well as for foreigners who have never heard of similar scams, they can easily be trapped into this new scam.
According to the victims' post-mortem analysis, they believe that there is a complete set of strategic logic behind the \"pig killing tray\" targeting employees of technology companies.
First of all, technology employees are more socially inclined than ordinary people, and their online social needs are even stronger when they work from home. In addition, these engineers are generally very confident in their technical judgment, and once they don't see a breakthrough at the beginning, their level of commitment will be higher than the average person. Finally, they are also more interested in topics such as cryptocurrency and asset investment than the average person, and are more willing and able to put more money into profitable experiments.
Specializing in scams and targeting international markets
It is also clear from the fact that scammers are targeting Silicon Valley engineers in groups that these "piggy banks" are no longer a small game, but an organized and disciplined professional scam. In addition to chat software, Linkedin, currently in TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter and other types of overseas social software also appeared on the figure of these scammers.
It is understood that most of the scammer groups are gathered in Southeast Asia, they have a complete training system, from overseas platform popularization, persona shaping to fraudulent object type selection, chat entry way, etc. have standard operating steps, there are even multilingual "kill pig" teaching materials.

i have always had a love/hate relationship with summer, mainly because i feel pressure to be busy 24/7 and have SO MUCH FUN (thank you, depression and anxiety) but now that i’ll be single, it feels that much worse. i know i’ll be worrying and thinking about what my partner is doing all the time, wishing we were doing it together, etc. we also have a shared friend group so i’m panicking about both being excluded from events and also present at the same events/having to manage that…
but then the idea of fall and winter is no better because of impending hibernation (we used to lean into cozy weekends in together HARD - and now i’ll be alone), first holidays alone…i have so much stress and anxiety surrounding the future 😔

After some decent news the last couple weeks for this organization there wasn’t really anything great from this week besides maybe the fact that if WR DeAndre Hopkins was a distraction to the team he now no longer is one. It will be interesting to see how things play out this year.
Atlanta Falcons:

FB Keith Smith was arrested on traffic charges
- Driving with a suspended license he claims was a misunderstanding

It sounds like the situation with Keith Smith should get resolved rather quickly and was more of a misunderstanding than anything else. It will be fun for this young team to have joint practices with Miami and it will be a good way for their defense to get an initial test from an elite offense. I am sure the Dolphins won’t reveal all of their tricks but either way they will have to worry about guarding an elite offense with elite playmakers.
Baltimore Ravens:

It is crazy to think about how just about a month ago the news around the Ravens was all negative and that it seemed like the relationship with Lamar was fractured. Now here we are and Lamar seems about as happy as can be and is excited about the offense that is being installed under new OC Todd Monken. It will be exciting for him as well to have WR Rashod Bateman back who I still think can be a key playmaker on the team. It appears the Ravens could be set for big things even in a tough division.
Buffalo Bills:

No surprise, QB Josh Allen is hyper-focused and wants to win a Super Bowl
S Damar Hamlin is back out working out on the field
WR Stefon Diggs did not attend OTAs
EDGE Von Miller guarantees he will play by week 6 but is not rushing anything

Great to see the that S Damar Hamlin was back out practicing. I know it has been some time since his collapse on the field but it still feels like yesterday that I was watching that game in complete shock at what I had witnessed and worry for him and his family. WR Stefon Diggs being absent at OTAs is not a big deal to me. QB Josh Allen has a lot of other guys he needs to get familiar and work in with anyways and a lot of star players don’t attend OTAs to either get rest/recovery or to do their own workouts with their private coaches. I imagine he and Kincaid will be deadly this year and who knows they may even have WR DeAndre Hopkins joining them as the Bills were one of two teams that inquired and had talks about a trade for him.
Carolina Panthers:

TE Hayden Hurst is recovering from sports hernia surgery
QB Bryce Young is taking most of the first team reps

Not too much news here other than what we saw and heard from OTAs about Bryce Young getting to take most of the 1st team reps. It appears that he looked good and his teammates were saying great things about him. It is tough to judge any quarterback though in the offseason because no matter what folks always say their young or new quarterback is looking amazing and things are progressing nicely. I will say though I have heard the most good things coming out from camps about him and Anthony Richardson of the Colts.
Chicago Bears:

QB Justin Fields excited about the growth WR Chase Claypool had over offseason
Got permission to begin demolition of Arlington Park racetrack

Good news for Chicago fans who are excited for their move. It seems that things are proceeding nicely with the process of moving to a new stadium. Also, great to hear that Chase Claypool may be able to make more of a difference this year. It would be hard to be less effective than what he was last year for this team. I still believe he can be a major impact player like many expected him to be when he entered the league. It will be key for him to become Fields’ go to receiver over some of the other talent they have on the team.
Cincinnati Bengals:

Want to sign WR Tee Higgins and LB Logan Wilson to long term extensions
Have made their initial push for QB Joe Burrow

This team has a lot to do in terms of contracts that they need to get figured out. The team view Tee Higgins in very high regard and so does Joe Burrow as they should. They also really want to get Logan Wilson signed. However, what will come out to being the biggest of the contracts they do this offseason is that of Joe Burrow. What will continue to make things tough here is the longer it takes for Justin Hebert to get his deal done because Burrow will likely be the last of the 4 quarterbacks to sign his because it is presumed he will get the most money and has an agent who like to wait til the last minute.
Cleveland Browns:

WR Elijah Moore feels good now that he feels wanted with his new team
EDGE Za’Darius Smith is excited to be facing the Ravens this year

All good news for Browns fans so far. The team is looking good and their appears to be a lot of good vibes coming out of practice. WR DeAndre Hopkins is even considering coming to Cleveland for the chance to play with his old QB. Also, WR Elijah Moore is looking crisp and at least for the moment it appears he is much happier. It will all depend on if he actually gets the ball thrown to him during the season though.
Dallas Cowboys:

HC Mike McCarthy is keeping offense in Dak’s language despite the changeup in play callers

Not too much news here which is good for this franchise because they are almost always the center of attention. The main thing I took away from this week was just that things seems to be going well with McCarthy and Dak working together on the offense but that there have been some growing pains at least initially getting used to new systems as expected.
Denver Broncos:

It appeared to shock just about everyone when the news broke about K Brandon McManus getting released because he had become a fan favorite over the years in Denver. QB Russell Wilson has lost a lot of weight and it is evident just from seeing him this offseason. I didn’t think his weight was the issue hindering him last year but hopefully he can feel he is playing at a healthier weight. What I think most Denver fans were excited to see was RB Javonte Williams back on the practice field. He is going to end up being the real difference maker this year and whether this team competes with the top of the AFC or not will largely depend on him making the rest of the offense’s life easy or not.
Detroit Lions:

Former WR Calvin Johnson was at OTAs this week after having been away from the organization following a rough falling out post-retirement
RB David Montgomery said that losing with the Bears “sucked the fun out of the game”
WR Jameson Williams says that he didn’t know about the gambling policy; HC Dan Campbell feels he is miles ahead in terms of his talent already

A lot of news here. Let’s start with the bad news. It appears that they may be having more penalties come down on their team/players due to the league’s gambling policy as their is an ongoing investigation into a 5th player from the team. Also, David Montgomery and Malcolm Rodriguez left the field with injuries. It is still early though and they appear to be minor injuries so hopefully it won’t affect them in the long term. Now some good news. It sounds like WR Jameson Williams is progressing nicely and the team got a new kicker in Riley Patterson from the Jaguars who should help the improve there. Lastly and maybe the biggest news is that Calvin “Megatron” Johnson was at OTAs hanging out with coaches and players. Many are hoping those good vibes carry over into the season.
Green Bay Packers:

Exciting news that Green Bay will get the draft in 2025! I was thinking they would try and stick to more southern states but they clearly are willing to go North with Detroit and now Green Bay being the hosts of the next two. HC Matt LaFleur appears to be being honest with everything and trying to temper expectations a bit with Jordan Love taking over. This could be to help take pressure off of Love and also just be the flat out truth that with any young quarterback it is going to take some time.
Houston Texans:

Appears DeMeco Ryans may not be too sure about pursuing Jadeveon Clowney
HC DeMeco Ryans expects the o-line to be a strength for this team
Currently it is a QB competition between Davis Mills and CJ Stroud
- Other teams have been inquiring about QB Davis Mills

I am not surprised about DeMeco Ryans hesitancy about pursuing Jadeveon Clowney. First of all he just may not want to reveal his cards to others in the league about what he is thinking. The other thing is that he is one that likes for his defense to have an identity and a really good work ethic. I am not saying that Clowney can’t fit that mold but it just makes the selection process for what Ryans wants on defense that much more thorough. The other news that surprised some but something I mentioned a couple of weeks ago is that QB Davis Mills will compete with Stroud for the starting job and is viewed as a desirable QB to other teams around the league. I know his stats haven’t been the best but I am not sure any of the young quarterbacks would have done well with what the Texans organization has been the last couple years. At the end of the day CJ Stroud will end up being the team’s starter due to draft status and probably will be the more talented, better option.
Indianapolis Colts:

No timetable for Shaquille Leonard to resume practicing
QB Anthony Richardson was running a similar offense to what Jalen Hurts has run in Philly and was very impressive (splitting 1st team reps)

Overall things seems to be good for the organization. The main thing we are all waiting on is when Shaq Leonard will be able to get back out there and start practicing. It makes sense not to have him practicing now since things are optional anyways. The hype has been there for QB Anthony Richardson thus far and it appears he may be closer to starting right away than a lot of people thought.
Jacksonville Jaguars:

Traded K Riley Patterson to the Lions for an undisclosed draft pick
RB Travis Etienne looking forward to doing some fine-tuning this year

Not too much news out of Jacksonville other than the change at the kicker position. Things got busy and they were able to trade K Riley Patterson to the Lions rather than release like the reports had said prior. Then they went out and got a proven veteran in K Brandon McManus who had just been released from the Broncos squad. This team is going to be interesting this year and will go as far QB Trevor Lawrence can take them. Does not hurt to have the veteran kicker for the big moments that could be coming for this organization.
Kansas City Chiefs:

HC Andy Reid is not a fan of the kickoff rule change hinting at the NFL getting closer to being flag football
- TE Travis Kelce is not happy about it either
QB Patrick Mahomes addressed contract saying he cares more about Super Bowls
LB Nick Bolton doesn’t think the defense gets enough credit
QB Patrick Mahomes says that it has been a smooth transition to new OC Matt Nagy
HC Andy Reid feels fullbacks have been phased out of the NFL and that the Chiefs will not be using one

HC Andy Reid who normally is pretty quiet and doesn’t get too involved was in front of the media a lot this week it felt like. First, he is not a fan of the new kickoff rule and it appears most coaches are not. Second, he talked about how the team will not be using a FB because they are being phased out of the NFL and he feels that the TEs they have on the team can play the role when needed. Overall it seems things are going well for the Chiefs and things could be a going a lot better here soon as they appear to be a top option for WR DeAndre Hopkins and one the few teams that had trade talks before he was released.
Las Vegas Raiders:

Former QB Tom Brady reached an agreement to be a minority owner of the team
QB Jimmy Garoppolo had to have foot surgery after signing with the team and there is not timetable for his return - believe he should return before the season
- Things could get interesting depending on how situation with Jimmy G works out
WR Davante Adams is not happy about the current QB situation with the Raiders
- Adams and team have been sued by the photographer he shoved last year
Will have joint practices with the 49ers

It appears there is never a dull week with the Raiders. The news this week about Jimmy seem to add context potentially to what Davante Adams’ comments were about recently. With Tom Brady recently joining the ownership group here it makes us all wonder if the injury is not cleared up is there a way for him to un-retire once again…only time will tell.
Los Angeles Chargers:

Big news here getting the deal done with Austin Ekeler even if it still only keeps him around for 1 year. Thankfully now he should be semi-happy for that one year before he can go out and chase a big contract if he wants to.

Not much news here really. Sounds like Matthew Stafford has taken Stetson Bennett under his wing and started to work with him and help him learn more about the transition to the NFL compared to college.
Miami Dolphins:

QB Tua Tagavailoa is wearing a camera on his helmet to help HC Mike McDaniel see what he sees on the field

I loved seeing Tua wearing the helmet cam. I had not thought about it before but it should be great for him to be able to show McDaniel exactly what he is/was seeing out on the field to add context and allow McDaniel to better coach him and understand what is going on. I think this should be something all quarterbacks do and especially the top ones because it could gives coaches that much more information and a better understanding of how to help young quarterbacks in the future.
Minnesota Vikings:

All signs appear to be pointing towards RB Dalvin Cook getting released. In other news it will be good for the defense to develop the aggressive mindset that Brian Flores wants and should bring in the attitude from Miami that wad established during his time there that was so effective and led to them winning games.
New England Patriots:

Got docked 2 days of OTA workouts for violating offseason rules and HC Bill Belichick was fined $50,000 dollars
Placed LB Raekwon McMillan on injured reserve due to partially torn ACL

The Patriots seems to always be up to something. It sounds like they were penalized the 2 days of OTAs and fined because of a meeting that Joe Judge held that lasted more than the permitted amount of time. Other tough news came when Raekwon McMillan got injured.
New Orleans Saints:

TE Foster Moreau is participating in OTAs
Being in New Orleans has given QB Derek Carr a breath of fresh air
Former HC Jon Gruden is working with the team and Derek Carr

What a story. TE Foster Moreau finds out he has cancer in a physical with the team a couple months and gets ahead of things and is now practicing with them at OTAs. Interesting story here about former HC Jon Gruden working with the team because during his time with the Raiders many said that he and Carr did not get along. This team has a big opportunity to take over the NFC South and is probably the bet setup to do it with the team they have.
New York Giants:

Rookie WR Jalin Hyatt wants to get to 190lbs as his playing weight
TE Darren Waller is happy to somewhere where his opinions are valued
- QB Daniel Jones is enjoying working with TE Darren Waller
HC Brian Daboll will not speak on contract situations despite currently Barkley situation

It seems that everything is going great except the Saquon Barkley situation. There isn’t much new insight into it either after HC Daboll refused to speak on anything contract related. In good news it seems like TE Darren Waller is really enjoying being with the team and working with QB Daniel Jones. This is a team to me that is going to play inspired football like they did last year no matter what is going on because their HC.
New York Jets:

QB Aaron Rodgers had minor calf strain
WR Allen Lazard went down during OTAs but supposedly was just a shot to the groin
Worked out P Matt Araiza
Chuck Clark was happy to be traded because felt disrespected by the Ravens
HC Robert Saleh is confident a deal will get done with Quinnen Williams
Will have joint practices with the Buccaneers

I imagine Jets fans held their breath when they saw Aaron Rodgers get injured as well as Allen Lazard. The good news is that those are not going to be issues in the long run. However, it reminded us all that QB Aaron Rodgers is not a young guy anymore and there is always the possibility that he like any other player in the NFL can get hurt. Hopefully the deal with Quinnen Williams can get done sooner rather than later. A QB likes it when his receiver makes life easier and bails him out. Pickens has already done that on multiple occasions for him.

Once again this offseason no one is sure who will be starting for the team come week 1.

Great to see that Tampa has joint practices with the Jets. They have a tough defense and it will be good for Baker and the offense to get some work against that defense early on. The Bucs have some great weapons on the offensive side of the ball to really compete with those top defenses and if they can all stay healthy this team could be a dark horse team to watch. Overall this should be a good all around team.

Feels like a lot happened with the Commanders. First off, I think QB Sam Howell is in a great spot to learn and develop this year with mentors like Jacoby Brissett and then his OC Eric Bieniemy. They will hold him accountable like has already been happening and help bring out the best in him. Now it definitely is an organization surrounded by distractions. First off the trademark application for the team’s name was denied and they hope to get something figured out but could lead to another name change. Also, the team is still working through the Josh Harris bid and there need to be some adjustments in order for it to get accepted by the other NFL Owners and the league. These distractions even though they may not always be good for the team they probably do help a young quarterback because he is not the only thing to talk about at this point in the offseason.

Restaurant of the Week: (Washington D.C. - TACOS 5 DE MAYO)
Don’t really have a great picture of this place but that may be a good thing. Often times I find that the places least advertised and that are holes in the wall is typically where you get the best Mexican food. This place is about a 10 minute drive from the stadium and probably closer to 15-20 minutes on game days depending on the time you go. Personally I recommend the Tacos Al Pastor. Those are basically a marinated pork taco that is slightly spicy with some sweet pineapple flavor in it. You cannot go wrong with Tacos Al Pastor and are by far my favorite. The other thing to keep an eye on is the Pupusas. While Pupusas are from El Salvador this place actually does a pretty dang good job of making them. For those that don’t know what Pupusas are they kind of resemble a stuffed pancake but are made of corn in most cases stuffed with either just cheese, cheese and beans, or cheese and pork. My order here would be 3 tacos al pastor and a cheese and bean pupusa. Enjoy!

i just wanna get better. i'm tired of ruminating of past situations and people. i guess that's what it's kind of like having an attachment disorder. it's what it is.
sometimes i fantasize about love or something. but i realize it's so stupid. you can fall in love with lots of people. more like it's a choice of common interests...choice and connection.
meh.
then i feel if i miss this window of dating in my life. then i'll be screwed with no children the end of my fertile period. but then again, online dating really wasn't for me. (the classic okcupid was full of weirdos). i guess what's left would be club hopping if i lost some weight or bar hopping.
it all seems so meh.

When the Strawhats set out for the Grand Line, the members of the crew had very clear dreams and ambitions.
-Luffy vowed to be the King of the Pirates
-Zoro was aiming to be the world's strongest swordsman
-Nami wanted to draw a map of the world
-Sanji wanted to find the All-Blue
-And finally, Usopp's goal was to be a Brave Warrior of the Sea.
His goal may not be as lofty as the others' but it is extremely significant in understanding Usopp as a person, and that is the crux of his character. Usopp's entire journey is about him getting over his cowardice.
Is Luffy the King of the Pirates yet? Is Zoro the strongest swordsman yet? Has Nami drawn a map of the entire world yet? Has Sanji found the All-Blue?
Patience. Usopp will be a Brave Warrior of the Sea someday, and it'll be glorious.
As far as I'm concerned, every Strawhat is invaluable to the group. They all have something to offer, and the group falls apart without even one of them.

Backstory: John Doe woke up in a hospital bed, without a name he chose the name Johnathan Doestim. Weeks later he began hearing voices. He thought he was going crazy when he saw himself appear as a blue shade in front of him, but it wasn’t him, this John was much better kept, he was wearing a suit. When asked he spoke how if John Doe calms down there might be others that come along. John Doe screamed as a ghost had just spoken to him and the ghost disappeared. A couple of days later at his office job, he heard a voice telling him he had just missed a paper he was supposed to give to his boss in the stack he was carrying. He started to get along with the voices until a villain attacked, he ducked behind a corner and began focussing on a new voice screaming in his head. The man who emerged was not dressed as a doctor or a lawyer, he was dressed in light knight armor. Wielding a sword he fought back the villain attacking, now revealing them to be a ninja. After the battle, John Doe finally gave in and focussed on letting out the voices in his head, there were Doctors, Master swordsmen, Lawyers, but he was just an office worker and everyone else noticed too, they asked why he was the one to be their anchor to the world. With mysteries to uncover and some powers to explore the man with other versions of himself in his head went off to learn from them.

Notes: Our reality didn’t have a person who we would know as John Doe, but this John Doe and his shades were transported here because they were standing at the epicenter of the destruction of Freedom Tower, as there was no Freedom Tower in any of their Universes. Along with that, main John Doe is the only one who was unsuccessful in life in comparison to his shades. If you include his shades, John Doe has been on every seat in the courtroom.
Meta Notes: My sister came to me with the idea to create a character who was a failure, but was the only thing tethering his other much more successful versions to this world. With some work we come to a deck with very situational cards that can be played “accidentally” with a forced top of deck play.
Gameplay vision: This deck relies on 2 things:

The shades that keep the main John Doe safe and deal damage.
The main power forces you to play the top card of your deck which can sometimes be detrimental by causing you to destroy your shades.

Chapter 7

Our second visit to the plaza was much quicker than our first arrival. We didn't venture far enough to make the way back too long. And we already had a sense of familiarity with the scenery and didn't dawdle.
Surprisingly despite not being gone for long, there were some changes already. The lookouts that were present when we left were missing. And, the work at the Pillar had stopped.
The atmosphere had taken a hit as well. People were quieter as a whole and looked scared, packed in tighter groups.
We came closer to the nearest group.
"What's going on?" I asked.
People looked at us with gloomy looks.
"There was an attack," a young woman answered. Her eyes were red with tears. "A ghoul killed someone. There was so much blood," her voice cracked with the emotions. "And there was so much screaming."
Kenny looked uneasily at me, the imagery of the creature and the horrendous screams of its victims popping out from recent memory as fast as it did for me, no doubt.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Did you know them?" He asked in a gentle tone.
"No, it was just so awful," she was starting to tear up again. "It just attacked, and more people got hurt, and all we could do was to run around screaming." Tears started to drop down her cheeks.
"This 'ghoul,' the same thing as the one Victor brought earlier?" I asked.
"Probably, I don't know," she answered. "It just started eating the poor guy on the spot. It ate him alive," she shuddered. "It was the worst thing I've ever seen. I can't stop hearing it."
"Nobody tried to help? The cop?" I asked.
"People threw stuff at it, but nobody even came close," she said. "Officer Douglas is working on a solution."
"What can he even do? Arrest it?" Another person gave off a humorless chuckle. "Now nobody wants to look out for those things, and nobody is building the ramp," he snarled. "Everyone is so afraid that they think there is another one in the Pillar—that it will jump them the moment they look away," he finished accusingly.
"Why won't you keep working at it?" I asked.
"What, and do all the work by myself?" He snapped.
I didn't see him contribute earlier when things were calmer, but I chose not to comment on it. That would be hypocritical of me.
We walked away, and I looked around, trying to find a good place to rest. There probably wasn't any safer place around either way, and we were dead on our feet at that point. We could've been up for a whole day already, but it was impossible to tell without a clock or any view of the sky.
We decided on the right colonnade that ran alongside the city square and placed ourselves smack in the middle of it, a reasonable distance away from the other groups while still inside their perimeter.
"Oof," Kenny sighed as he dropped to the ground. "Finally."
I sat there, head laid in my hands, eyes shut. The events of the day were playing out in my mind. So much was unclear, but what was important at that moment was to relax, catch my breath, and be ready for the next day.

I sat there, contemplating my next move, making plans for tomorrow, and finally, I was relaxed enough to lay down and try to catch some sleep.
Minutes passed by. I heard Kenny's measured breaths and the quiet movements of more distant people, but I couldn't fall asleep.
Kenny started turning once in a while, more people talked and moved, and there was always some small thing that kept me awake. I couldn't doze off even for a moment, just laying there fully awake with my eyes closed.
At some point, Kenny got up and walked away. Was he waiting for me to fall asleep to go away?
I kept trying to doze off, but with the day's stress, it was unsurprising that I would fail to find peace.
Eventually, Kenny returned.
"Nate?" He called out.
I thought for a moment about ignoring him, but I didn't have much hope of falling asleep anytime soon.
"Yeah," I answer, waiting for him.
"I didn't eat," Kenny said leadingly.
"I don't think anyone here did," I agreed.
"I didn't drink either," he said.
"We can go to the river tomorrow," I soothed him.
Why was he complaining now?
"No, I mean, I don't even want to eat or drink," he said. "Do you?"
Now that he mentioned it, I didn't notice any sense of hunger or thirst. After all this time and all the activity we had to do today, I expected to be parched.
Three days or so was the amount of time a person could survive without water, or at least that was what I knew from popular TV shows. I didn't check it with some doctor or anything.
"I swallowed some water accidentally earlier, but it shouldn't be enough, I don't think," I replied. "What do you reckon?"
Kenny had an intense expression. The last time he looked like this was when he discovered we were underground. I was really hoping for a less unorthodox conclusion from him this time.
"I didn't eat or drink all day, and I didn't even pee for a whole day. I don't think you need a medical degree to know that's not normal," he said. "And I can't sleep. Nobody can, I asked around."
"Nobody can sleep?" I asked. "From the stress?"
"Not one person managed to fall asleep even once, even for a minute," he said.
That was strange. Not as strange as being kidnapped and let loose in a haunted, lost ancient city underground, but still surprising. How do you make a whole population sleepless? Something in the air?
"So, what are you thinking?" I asked him. I sure didn't have an explanation for any of this.
"People are saying an experiment by the government. Or aliens," Kenny said. "Some people said we are probably in a virtual world like the Matrix. Someone even suggested that we all died, and this is the afterlife," he listed off, every possibility sounding less sure as he went on.
"Any of the options has with a way back home?" I asked, coming to a sitting position.
He just shrugged.
I took my time thinking things over. A situation this absurd could only be explained by something of roughly equally ridiculous bearing. That was my read on things, at least. The law of conservation of absurdity, if you will.
"Whatever it is, we are not dead," I concluded.
Kenny just looked at me questioningly.
"We are not dead," I repeated," I don't know about the aliens and the other stuff, but I am sure about this one."
Kenny remained quiet.
"Everything we do, every decision we make, we have to assume that we can survive," I added. "Without hope, we don't stand a chance."
We remained silent for a while. I tried to entertain the far-fetched possibilities Kenny presented, but ultimately they only held value for me if they provided some kind of advantage.
Believing that we had already died held no advantage whatsoever.
If we were part of a government experiment or, interchangeably, an alien experiment, we could be kept alive longer if we provided the necessary results. But what results were they seeking? The only objective I could think of was to test how long a random sample of people would survive. But how could I incentivize those theoretical scientists to intervene on my behalf? Seeing me live or die would satisfy them either way.
What if aliens use this setup as an entertaining reality show? Would acting more appealing and exciting make them want to help us stay alive longer? That's a real thing I could do to impact the situation.
Or were we inside a computer simulation? Should we have access to the system, could we open a help ticket? Contact an administrator? Open a console? How would that work? A hand gesture or verbal command?
I explained to Kenny that I intended to test his simulation theory so he won't be alarmed. Instead of treating me like a madman, he supported the idea and joined me.
"Escape, Logout, Logoff, Shutdown, Quit, Exit, Settings, Properties, Help, Command, Terminal, Console, System…" We tried every command we could remember, every gesture that could be used with a touchscreen or a VR headset.
We went at it for a while, but eventually, we had to conclude that none of them worked.
It was a long shot anyway, so back to the drawing board we went.
Kenny perked up and started lifting his shirt, showing his back.
"Hey Nate, do you see anything on my back?"
I looked closely. "No, you have a red spot from leaning on the column, but nothing else jumps out."
"I had a big birthmark there," Kenny proclaimed triumphantly. "I should've checked sooner when I realized my eyesight was fixed."
I started checking myself, too, birthmarks, scars, and moles. Every imperfection or irregularity I could remember. I had a sinking feeling when I corroborated him. Some things remained the same; others disappeared entirely or were slightly different in a way I couldn't pinpoint.
Discovering that I was somehow changed against my will was a horrible feeling. I felt violated. My body was tweaked and twisted without me even noticing it.
It didn't have any rhyme or reason to it either. Sometimes the larger mole was removed, and sometimes the smaller scar. It wasn't restricted to time either. Even a wisdom tooth that just started to come out disappeared entirely.
"How long for this kind of dental work to completely heal?" I asked. "Several days? Weeks?"
Kenny nodded uncertainly.
"It just doesn't make sense," I continued. "Can you imagine the number of surgeries and time needed for all of it? And for what? Just to mess with our heads?"
We sat thinking. What else could we test? What other things that seemed impossible needed to be checked now? Something so obvious that we won't question it, but it was somehow different now?
"It's the more visible things that remained," Kenny remarked. "For me, at least. I don't think anything changed on my hands, but my back or anywhere I won't usually notice is fair game."
He was right. How could it help us? It didn't narrow down the possibilities of our situation, and I couldn't see how to take advantage of it.
We were idle for hours, and while we couldn't sleep, eventually, I felt rested enough, at least physically. Of course, we were still stressed and mentally exhausted from all the happenings, but if only physical activity was required, we could probably repeat today's feats.
Kenny went to look for someone to barter his silver tray, and I just stayed put, trying to come up with a plan. I wondered if we would start losing weight if we went without food or water for long enough or if we would be able to sleep eventually, even if it would be less frequent. Many of those things could be answered by surviving long enough, but I wasn't sure I would like the answers.

this is my first story on NoP and hopefully my first good one, excuse the dates, i just put the date i went to the fair i describe in the story and put it in the year the main story takes place, for reference this is meant to be before the bombs dropped.

As My exchange partner and I stepped out of his house and into his car I was quite unenthused about where we were going. We were headed to a steam fair, yes an actual real life steam fair, this is something a yotul would enjoy, and I was no mere uplift.
[2 hours later]
It took half a spheking paw to get here, ugh, at least it was a chance to listen to more of that wonderful, though oddly named, human music, of the metal genre, my current favourite song being full circle by Five finger death punch, an odd and very predatory name, but it seems the same is true for a lot of human music. As we pulled into the seemingly random field there was an old man, in what my human had told me was a hi vis jacket, making strange hand gestures at us that my human somehow understood, we drove into another field, this one full of semi orderly rows of many different types of cars, we then got out and walked through the long grass towards a green booth of some kind in front of a small also green bridge, there were two middle aged human women in the booth, after my human paid £10 we were allowed in, at first it was less than impressive to our left was a man in an oddly coloured suit and purple top hat on a large stage, in front of us was a large empty area fenced off with rope, and many older vehicles were off to our left along with some “bouncy castles'' as my human had explained to me before and several stalls selling various items.
We went over to the left, past the stage and several food stands that smelled absolutely incredible, we made our way to a large horizontal wheel that suspended five other horizontal wheels that each had three sets of seats suspended from them, my human decided this would be a good way to “break me into it”, I decided against pointing out the very predatory language, and agreed to go on, my human gave the ride operator £3 and we both got on, my human being the bigger of the two of us had to sit next to the padded wall likely to reduce the effects of inertia, after a short wait for it to fill up, the ride started to play some music and slowly spin each the top one spinning the opposite direction to the others, the ride slowly got faster and after about a minute the operator announced, over the PA of the ride,that it was “time for turbo mode” and to “squish your partner”, and so I did, I allowed myself to slide across and bump into him at speed, I hit him harder than I intended, and apologised, he said nothing and simply pushed against the centrifugal force pushing us into the padded wall and moved us both to the opposite side of the cart, and laughed saying that he barely felt my impact “of course you didn’t, you have the most messed up physiology I have ever seen” I laughed out smiling in spite of myself.
After the ride stopped we moved past a giant vertical wheel, that my human called a Ferris wheel, and a large tower with a slide running around the outside, called a helter skelter my human said, and on to what my human said was one of his favorite rides ever, the swinging boats, from where we stood they looked quite tame, something was wrong, my human was an “Adrenaline junkie” as he and several of his friends had called him, meaning two rectangular boxes with seats in them just hanging there was clearly not all there was to the first steam powered ride I had seen at this steam fair, as we ascended the stairs to get on I saw an old man in amongst many valves, levers and gauges, my human paid the man £3 and one other person was on the ride with us, we were at one end and she was at the other, she smiled at us and laughed at my concerned face after my human gave some obscure hand sign, I should really learn the human hand, face and head language, just then I noticed a sign that read “all riders do so at their own risk” I was now very worried, I didn’t say anything though as I knew that my human would never intentionally endanger me, just then an ear peircing screeching sound started, causing me to Jump in fright, we were then told to hold onto the netting behind us and put our feet on the bench in front of us, then the box we were in started to swing, and I realised what they would do, after about [20 seconds] we were swinging so far that the box, or boat as my human had corrected me several times now, went from horizontal to vertical, with every swing, my human and the other one on the ride were smiling and laughing with each other while i firmly closed my eyes, my human noticed my discomfort and spoke, as softly as he could to be heard over the sound of the rushing air, comforting me and making sure i was ok, and trying to lighten the mood with a small joke here and there, eventually I felt brave enough to open my eyes and see the open sky on the other side of the netting, then we swung back and i was looking down at the human female smiling comfortingly at me, then i felt the air rushing in my face as we swung back and i couldn't help but bleat in surprise, this caused both humans to “awww” simultaneously quickly followed by the human female saying “jinx” and them both laughing, this time i joined in too.
About a minute later we were off of the ride and i felt like the ground was moving under me for a few seconds after i got off, right next to the boats was a small booth with several confectionaries on the rear wall and several very old looking weapons on the counter, there was a human mother helping their child to aim one of them at the confectionaries and then a small pop was heard as a cork flew from the end of the weapon and i saw a small pink cuboid with a green being called a dragon(that looked like if someone recoloured an Arxur and made it more square) on it, labelled “CHEWITS” fall backwards off its shelf, the woman running the stall then collected the tube from the trough at the bottom and passed it to the child who ran off happily, with his mother in tow. My human decided to challenge me at this game, I foolishly accepted and quickly wasted £15 of my human's money to only glance at a very large tin of biscuits, my human on the other hand had hit all bar 1 shot and we now had several boxes of confectionery.
The next ride we went on was called “THE SUPER SKID CARS” according to the sign above the ride entrance. My visual translator had a hard time with that one due to the very odd font. My human said he used to love riding these with his mum when he was a child, and that he was somewhat surprised such an old machine was still in service, (frankly I was surprised any of these machines were still in service at all). My human told me that these were a precursor to “waltzers” and said that based on my reaction to the boats it may be for the best if i watched first, i agreed, as my human was about to get on, he saw one of his friends, she was called Summer and she was a very lovely person, once you got past her shell of self loathing depression and their exchange partner, Janak was her name, after the two of them had hugged, we collectively decided that the humans should go on and we would watch to decide if we wanted to join them the second time, so my human and Summer went on together, the ride worked by a large central wheel spinning with several carts facing inward being pulled around by it, with a break pedal that would slow the cart enough that it would rotate about its hinge to the point that it was facing the direction it was traveling, when you then let go of the break it would fling the cart around at high speed to face the other way and repeat, all the while a human song was being played quite loudly, the one playing while our humans were on was dancing in the moonlight, our humans were singing along, and quite loudly, until the ride sped up causing summer to scream slightly and then laugh with me,Janak and my human , as they were flung so hard that they bounced back and forth several times, this continued for a little while more with Summer squealing in delight at every swing, my human singing and laughing along all the while.
After summer got off we all walked back around to the food stalls, where Janak and I had the leaves of a lovely vegetable called a lettuce, according to Summer, slices of a purple vegetable with white stripes in rings through it, called a red onion, according to summer, this prompted me to ask why it was called a red onion if it was purple and white, both humans looked at me and laughed at that, before my human said “sometimes human names are very on the nose, and other times, not so much, don’t worry about it.”, all while laughing, our meal was then wrapped in a thin-ish flat disk of strayu, I asked how humans had strayu in large enough quantities to sell like this, so soon after meeting us, this caused summer and Janak to laugh and my human to look confused, Janak explained that the humans had many different types of strayu, called bread apparently, and that they developed it independently and much, much earlier on in their cultural evolution than us, he also said that it tasted, different, not necessarily bad, but definitely not the same. The humans had chosen a bratwurst hot dog each from a german food stall, run by the british catering company, whilst mine and Janak’s was from a greek stall, also run by the british catering company.
After eating we went up to the stalls to the right of the entrance, where, my human bought a new wallet, and I bought several human confectionaries, at the end, there were several very primitive cloth tents, with people walking around in clothes that were very clearly not of this century, and they all carried weapons, such as knives, swords and axes. My human got quite excited at this and went over to speak with a group wearing helmets, chainmail and animal skins with jewellery woven into it, they had a table full of axes and swords with shields around it and spears poking out of the ground nearby, one of them holding a Dane axe!, after a lengthy conversation with a few of them we walked away with a card containing contact information, so that my human could join their re-enactment group. The central area was now host to two humans on motorbikes performing stunts and various tricks, while an announcer spoke to the crowd, as we walked down the backside of the central ring and towards the boats again we saw several small and quite slow steam engines making their way in our general direction, after we passed them I saw a dog, a truly fearsome beast tied to the front of a colossal steam engine, with, what i assumed to be the engine’s owner nearby talking to a woman with another dog, after we passed them we decided to have a go at the plate smash stand, Janak, summer and myself did terribly but my human hit every shot bar one, then we kept on moving, Janak and I had decided to go on the “THE SUPER SKID CARS'' with our respective humans. IT WAS A HUGE SPECKING MISTAKE!!!! A few seconds in, I was clinging to my human’s arm crying, he was holding me, softly stroking my head and speaking soothingly to me. About a minute in, i was able to open my eyes and sit there, still clinging to my human, as he continued to hold me, i noticed that he too seemed to be on the verge of tears, although i suspected for a different reason, after a while i got used to the speed, and asked my human to start swinging us, he did and i screamed in delight, it was so much fun, we sung along to a song i don't know the name of and moved so fast, i could feel my stomachs shift and shake around inside my body, after the ride finished i was so high on adrenaline that i felt like i could do anything, the same could not be said for Jamak, he looked utterly petrified and on the verge of throwing up. We returned to the shooting area and this time we only spent £5 each and i missed every shot, but it was fun, my human only got a tube of CHEWITS this time, but we still had fun, we then made our way back to the ferris wheel, we all went on and once we reached the top we stopped and i thought that something was wrong, until i looked down, now i'm braver than most venlil but this height was insane, however i now knew why we had stopped, a man and his son were getting on, however as i leaned back it caused our seating pod to rock back and forth, this made me freeze in terror as i pictured us falling and going splat on the ground below, and then we were moving again, and then we were on the ground, but we were still moving and then we were high in the air again, after this cycle of up and down had repeated another three times we finally got off, my whole body quivering with the after effects of terror, Jamak was clinging onto Summer’s arm and refused to let go as she lugged him around.
We made our way back to the boats and we all decided to go on, all except Jamak of course, at least he had let go of summer by now, this time i kept my eyes open the whole time and several of the other humans on board were screaming in delight, it was hilarious, my human, summer and i were all laughing, and as the boat slowed down, my human let go of the netting and put his feet back down, then the operator told him to put them back up and to keep holding on, so he put his hands up to hold on again and as he went to put his feet back up, the boat sped up again leading to my human hanging vertically and as we came back down, summer an i tried to hold him in place and check to see if he was ok, but he just wouldn't stop laughing, after the ride had stopped and we had gotten off, he finally stopped, and loudly exclaimed “DID YOU SEE THAT, IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME, HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!” this prompted summer to loudly exclaim “suicidal cunt, your going to give me a heart attack one of these days!”, this caused him to chuckle again and say “you’re one to talk aren’t you? And I'm way more likely to have a heart attack than you, genetic disorders, remember?”This went on until we reached the car parking field, where we went our separate ways, i was buzzing the whole way home as we listened to even more music and chatted, once we arrived home my tiredness hit me like a stampeding mazic and i fell face first onto the sofa.
When I woke up my human had bought me a glass of apple juice and was sitting next to me with one of his dogs on his lap, the large German shepherd Labrador cross breed, named Leela. She was huffing happily as my human rubbed her stomach. It had taken quite a while to warm up to the large and loud beast, but now she was a brilliant addition to my little herd and I can't imagine living without her here.
“Thank you, for the day out, it was wonderful, and I’m sorry for the way I acted about it this morning.”
“That’s fine, I had fun, and it seems you did too, that’s all that matters, that we both had fun.”
“You're the best friend a venlil could ask for, you know that right? I love spending time with you Oscar, even if you don’t love me, just know that I love you…. sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.”
“Hey, hey” Oscar said, softly, as I started to cry. “Just because I’m aromantic, doesn’t mean I can’t feel love, just not romance, I still love you, just platonically, now come and give me a hug, you silly sheep!” He said happily.
“I'm not a sheep, you stupid ape!” I responded jokingly, feigning indignation.
“I love you oscar”
“I love you too, Talik, now let’s get some dinner, we have to go back to work tomorrow.” and with that he stood up, finished his apple juice and walked into the kitchen.

Abruptly awakened from his brief slumber, Raphael's senses heightened as the truck came to a halt. Outside, a cacophony of shouts and orders filled the air. A surge of fear coursed through him, realizing the consequences if his shifted blindfold was discovered. Desperately, he pressed his face against the cold metal bars, attempting to readjust it and conceal any evidence. When the hinge emitted its shrill screech, he ceased his efforts, releasing a sigh of relief as he managed to partially conceal his eyes once more.
“Step out.”, someone ordered Raphael and Greg as they opened up the cages. “Careful with the step, don’t fall and break your necks.”
As Raphael and George were guided through an unknown path, the very air underwent a transformation, shifting from the freshness of the outdoors to a stagnant, damp state. Each step echoed in the corridor they traversed, while the temperature seemed to plummet. Eventually, their journey came to a halt, and the restraints of handcuffs and blindfolds were removed, revealing their new surroundings: a dark underground cell oozing with moisture. The masonry stones, adorned with moss and dew, exuded an ancient aura, reminiscent of castles seen in movies. Within the confines of their shared cell, the Elf and the Orc discovered an empty bucket and another brimming with water. Two worn-out blankets, tattered and emanating a pungent odor, lay in a corner, offering some shelter from the cold stone floor. The single window, covered by rusty yet sturdy metal bars, afforded a glimpse of the outside world and some dim light that did not help the visibility of the cell they were in.
"Here, your stupid emotional support stone.", a voice chuckled from behind tauntingly.
Startled, Raphael managed to snatch the object hurled in his direction, his heart sinking as he realized the grim truth—they had become ensnared in the clutches of a mysterious mercenary. The purpose behind their capture remained an enigma, veiled in a cloud of uncertainty that weighed heavily on their minds. As the mercenary with its rifles and military gear departed from the underground confines, his malicious laughter reverberated through the corridors, a taunting and mocking chorus that pierced their spirits more deeply than they cared to admit. Raphael's gaze darted around the dreary surroundings, his hands tightly clutching the stone gifted by Lillian once again. In this disempowered state, a flicker of defiance ignited within him, only to be swiftly extinguished as if the very air conspired to snuff out the flame before it could fully kindle. Frustration gnawing at his core, he sought solace on one of the worn blankets, lowering himself onto it with a heavy sigh.
“Big shit we are in. Any idea how to get out of this?”, Raphael asked.
Without uttering a word in response, Greg gravitated towards the metallic bars next to the door the had been shoved through, that stood as a formidable barrier between them and the elusive realm of freedom. Raphael couldn't help but entertain the fleeting thought of Greg squeezing through the narrow gaps, aided by his slender physique. However, a swift shake of his head dismissed the notion as nothing more than a product of sleep-deprived delusions. The reality was far harsher. Meanwhile, Greg, driven by a flicker of hope, seized two bars and strained with every ounce of strength he had left, groaningly attempting to contort them open. Yet, despite his valiant efforts, the unyielding resistance of the bars held firm, mocking their aspirations for liberation.
"Nope, sorry to burst ya bubble," Greg uttered with a tone of resignation, his body sinking down onto the meager sanctuary of his own grimy blanket. “Maybe we should get some more rest, I still feel tired.” “Maybe that’s the best for now. Being rested and as fresh as this lets us be for when they come back”
Raphael stretched out on his meager blanket, surrendering his weary body to the cold, hard ground. With a gentle sigh, he closed his eyes, seeking solace within the depths of his mind. His right hand, still tightly gripping the stone, clung to it as if it held the key to his very existence. Pressing it close to his heart, he allowed himself to be consumed by the embrace of slumber, where dreams could whisk him away to distant realms and offer a respite from the harsh realities that plagued his waking hours.
Raphael found himself standing before an immense bonfire in a realm of perpetual darkness. Its towering flames dwarfing anything he had ever witnessed. As he craned his neck to catch a glimpse of their apex, a searing pain gripped his muscles, leaving him unable to gauge their true height. The intense heat radiating from the inferno enveloped him, consuming both his flesh and his very essence. The dance of the flames held a mesmerizing power, casting fleeting illuminations in the abyss, yet failing to bring forth a tangible world from the shadows. There was a peculiar familiarity in its presence, an unsettling connection that both intrigued and terrified him. He longed to step closer, to immerse himself in its warmth, yet an unseen force held him in place, as if petrified by an unseen hand. He was condemned to forever gaze upon this blazing spectacle, for it resonated deep within him, a manifestation of his own essence intertwined with something foreign, an element that demanded both presence and departure. An eternal flame destined to burn, to be observed, to be extinguished, to exist, to be consumed. No matter how much he reached out, the flame remained forever out of his grasp, a tantalizing mirage just beyond his fingertips. The relentless gaze upon its undying brilliance seemed to bind him, ensnaring his very existence in an unbreakable cycle. It was a paradoxical experience, for within that consuming fire, he felt both a dreadful foreboding and a peculiar sense of belonging. It was as if he had stumbled upon his purpose, his true path, while simultaneously being thrust into the depths of his darkest nightmares.
Suddenly an ethereal voice echoed through the vast expanse of that enigmatic realm, its timbre carried a gentle warning, a cautionary melody that played with an innocent allure. It danced through the air, intertwining with the fabric of existence, whispering in hushed tones that both captivated and stirred the senses. Like the mischievous laughter of a child, it resonated, weaving its way through every corner, leaving a trail of mystery and intrigue in its wake.

Hi I’m just gonna start by saying I’m new to reddit so please be easy on me if I do this wrong :)
I (16F) have been obsessed with this guy in my grade for over a year now and it’s becoming a problem because he controls my mood and lifestyle. I met him when i moved to a new school which only starts from grade 10 so we were all new and the instant I met him at the grades camp I basically fell in love we’ll call him prince. At the time he had a girlfriend I’ll call her Jane and he made it a point to tell everyone because he doesn’t want to lead anyone on or be involved with other girls like that, the night I met him she cheated on him with another guy and they broke up over the weekend. I should mention at this time I was hanging around this popular group full with my good friend’s friends we’ll call her grace so I basically only hung with them when she was there after school, one day I went over to the group and prince was there. I had no idea he even knew these people so I was both happy and shocked anyways later I told grace about him and from there tried to get her to step us up but one day in class someone messaged me on her phone saying he was talking to someon so I should back off. I asked grace about this later and she said this super pretty girl in the group we’ll call her Gigi was talking to prince and she had gone over to his house this literally broke my heart even though this was only like a week after meeting him and I kind of gave up because the girls Gigi was friends with were scary and would easily bash me an make fun of me so I left it alone. the same week they starting dating and became a couple this started a faze in my life where I was probably the most depressed I had ever been and started drinking a lot wether it was at school or talking to one of my bsfs I’ll call her belle who also was my next door neighbour.
At the time I had 2 other bsfs we’ll call jaz and Jess. I hung out with them basically everyday even though we went to different schools me and these girls also smoked a lot. I would rant and talk about prince to them non stop even if he just glanced at me in the hallways. Time goes by and about 3 months later gigis friends text me on Snapchat telling me to backofff prince and I’m so weird and desperate probably about 3 off her friends at the same time. I texted gigi saying I was sorry and it turns out I had accedently started. Rumour that prince r worded gigi and got her pregnant… because I saw her giggling with her friends about a morning after pill and told jaz as a joke. I don’t even know how that escalated but it did and so I was out of that group and everyone hated me. From then on I was scared to go even near the suburb where they all hung out and I also apologised to prince.
I found out through Jess that grace had told everyone I was obsessed he crazy over him and I cut contact with her because when I asked her if she told them he swore on her life she didn’t and she would never do that to me. A lot of other stuff happened but when gigi and prince had been dating for about 8 months she cheated on him at a party with his friend this was in octoberish of last year. He started flirting with my friend at school and I had to be supportive and encourage them to get together. One day on the train home which we both take I asked him about what his intentions were with her and he denied all of it and said the were just friends (obviously lying) after that he stopped talking to her we’ll call her Tammy. In the last few weeks of school round December he started flirting with me and told me not to tell ANYONE. We made plans for me to sleepover at his house on the holidays. Oh not to mention everyday he would call me to the disabled bathrooms to make out and sometimes do other stuff. I ended up telling my bff I’ll call her Miranda and belle who swore not to tell anyone. I should also mention belle’s bff was becoming gigis new bff. And she told me about how they would both talk shit about me.
Then one day we made plans for him to take my virginity and the day after he said we should stop seeing ecother because of “drama”. I cried so much and ended up telling my new bff we’ll call her Sophie out of spite who I was in our group at school. We got into a fight and she threatens to tell everyone what happend between us. I made up a lie to Tammy saying she was threatening to make rumours about me and the whole group cut her off. She ended up spreading the news to my whole school and everyone I knew also found out etc but our group didn’t believe it. I dint speak to him alone anymore and would walk to the other side of the train carriage after school to avoid him even though all I wanted was to be with him. Then he started flirting with Tammy again and I would have to hear abt all of this because she became my new bff and I had o help set them up again.
Tammy started dating this guy from another school but prince and her are STILL flirting . Even though prince is the epitome of being against cheating. Then one day I’m at the train station on my way home looking out for him so I can sulk from a distance when I turn around and HE IS WITH MY EX BFF FROM GRADE 1 TO 8????? We kind off just stared at either and the said hi and it was so awkward keep in mind our mothers still go for brunch and catch-up every month. We all got on the train and I moved further down the carriage. Then he got off at MY station and took my bus home I figure is just to be able to see her on the train for longer. Now he and her are dating and he has to take my route home nearly everyday and I have to see them together. This plus how annoying it is how my friends treat me like making fun of me and recording me especially Tammy has me slipping back into depression again and now I get bad anxiety. Oh and me and jaz and Jess had a falling out because they got one off the girls from the group before to bash me thankfully my guy friends were there and stopped her so I could run away, this happend before me and prince started hooking up btw.
Now I’m super sad because my ex bff was the one who always got the guy in high school and I was the one they’d ask out as a joke. I’m in the process of moving back to my old school because I just can’t take this anymore and I can’t get over him even though it’s been well after a year since we met. Please any advice would be helpful :)
